Sunday morning Children's Christian Education
For ages 2-years-old through -5th grade at 9:30 a.m. and 10:50 a.m.
Rock Solid is an exciting new curriculum that helps children to know Jesus as the son of God and take his message to heart, following where their faith leads them.  Our children will not only learn about the Bible but also learn about their faith as they are nurtured by trusted examples of faithful living.  By using Rock Solid as the chosen curriculum, children will personally come to know God through Jesus Christ and make the Bible a part of their everyday lives.

Music Programming
We have a great selection of singing and ringing choirs for children. Check out the music page for more details.

Sunday School Registration
As we enter the fall season, we need everyone's help to update our children's ministry database again. Please register your child(ren) for the 2009-2010 school year by completing the information form below or picking up a copy at the Children's Welcome Desk on Sunday mornings. Please return the form to the Children's Education Department by September 6, or before the first Sunday your child(ren) will be in attendance at the 9:10 or 10:50 a.m. classes. Thank you for your help with this process.

Why volunteer to help the Sunday School at Manchester UMC?

"Being a teacher is part of my journey as a Christian and has enriched my life. My co-teachers have become my close friends and I have formed relationships with my students. But the best gift is watching the children grow and learn about God and how much He loves them.” Teri Stark, MUMC Sunday School Teacher

The most important reason we have children’s Sunday School is to create a foundation for Christianity that will serve our church’s children for their entire lives. This foundation often begins with us, in this place, as one of our jobs as Christians is to make sure there are future Christians.

How YOU can make a difference!

Our teachers, who offer their time and love throughout the school year, are given summers off from teaching. But we still need teachers and assistants during the summer months when children continue to learn, new young families visit our church and we remain dedicated to our children’s program.

The summer is a great time to teach because you can pick the Sundays which work best for you at either the 9:30 a.m. or 10:50 a.m. services and participate as a teacher or as a class assistant.

TEACHER Implement lessons from designated curriculum and lead class. Preparation time each week is 15-30 minutes and all materials are provided.

CLASS ASSISTANT Assist teacher, requiring little to no preparation time.

Email Linda Simino for a schedule to know where YOU can plug in!

Nursery and Childcare
Sunday Morning Nursery
For ages six weeks to two years at 9:30 a.m. and 10:50 a.m.
The Nursery Ministry provides loving, nurturing care for MUMC's youngest preparatory members and visitors.  The nursery staff and volunteers help children ages six weeks to two years experience God's love as they are given nurturing care and affection in a loving Christian environment.  Developmentally appropriate toys and activities guide their learning as they play.  Our goal is to make church experiences for the very youngest child a positive, loving and fun experience from the very first day.  We seek to build a sense of trust in young children as a foundation for teaching about God's love.

Child Care Provided for MUMC Ministries
At times during the week there is a need for child care so that parents may participate in Bible Study, attend meetings, and join in other church activities.  The Nursery is staffed with a minimum of two Safe Sanctuary Certified child care workers who are trained to provide developmentally appropriate activities in a safe and happy environment for children in Nursery care.  A Ministry leader must contact Linda Simino in order to arrange child care and reservations should be made a week in advance by individuals needing care.  A voluntary contribution of $2.00 per child per event is suggested.  Payment envelopes are located inside the Toddler Room and may be deposited in the box provided.

Children's Brochures are available at the Welcome Desk in the Nursery and Children's Education area.

Safe Sanctuary
We at MUMC affirm that all children and youth have the right to safe sanctuary.  Therefore MUMC is determined to provide an environment in which children and youth are safe from neglect and abuse.  The policies and provisions of this ministry apply to all staff and volunteers, clergy or lay, who have direct or indirect contact with children or youth in MUMC sponsored events.  In order to work with children or youth at MUMC, Safe Sanctuary Training at MUMC is required.  Trainings are held on the second Sunday of every month at 10:50 a.m. in room 221, no reservation required.  For more information please contact Donna Jelovic at 636.391.8170.
