the wednesday connection

Introducing the Wednesday Connection.

A new look. A name change. And lots of opportunities to learn, serve, grow in your relationship with God, and be in fellowship with one another. It’s the new face of Wednesdays at Manchester UMC.

Formerly called “Meals and Ministries,” recent focus groups led us to the name change. The Wednesday Connection is designed to be an intergenerational ministry offering opportunities to grow in our faith, become involved through service, and “entangle” our community.

Take a look at our proposed schedule. We’re sure you’ll find something to strengthen your connection with our family, faith, community, and world. Read further for more details on the activities.

ALL THE DETAILS

NOOMA™ Series Bible Study A contemporary style of study and discussion that will appeal to parents who have children in choir rehearsals and anyone else who is interested. Each week we will explore a different thought-provoking subject. No prep time, no homework! Join us in Room 223 and bring a friend along to sit in with you.

Hot Dinner Food and fellowship. $7 adults, $4 children, $22 family cap.

Worship Service In the sanctuary. All are welcome to participate, whether you’ve been here for dinner, are coming for a class/meeting, or just need a mid-week lift!

Disciple Bible Study Classes will begin for those who have signed-up! They meet to discuss the Bible and workbook readings.

Theme Class Each week in Room 141, we offer a class that will pertain to our “theme of the month.” It is our plan that each class will feature both educational and service elements that will appeal to adults and youth.
Library/Homework/Tutoring During our Wednesday evening classes, in addition to childcare in the nursery, we will offer library, homework and tutoring in Room 118 to school-aged children of those parents who are in class or meeting here at the church.

This month’s theme is “Service” and will be kicked off on September 10 with Bonnie Lester, who leads our Volunteers in Mission ministry. She will talk about our mission work and upcoming trip to Nicaragua in March, 2009. Sign-ups will be taken at this time for free Spanish lessons to be offered in the future – not only to benefit those who will actually be going on the trip, but for those who would like to better communicate with Spanish-speaking neighbors here in West County.

The November theme will be “Gratitude” and December will be “Advent.” Many more details to come, so be sure to check the website, The Messenger, the bulletin insert, and your email to stay informed about upcoming classes and sign-ups.

As you can see, we will have a lot of opportunities for people to CONNECT on Wednesdays here at MUMC and look forward to your participation this fall!
