Frequently asked questions
These are a few of the questions we hear most frequently from visitors and new members. If you have other questions that aren't answered here, please don't hesitate to contact Betsy Vicente.
Your church looks so big.
Will I get lost in the crowd?
Manchester United Methodist Church (MUMC) is a large church of over 3500 members. Being a church of this size allows us to offer a great number of ways for getting involved and feeling a part rather quickly. It’s amazing how quickly this big church shrinks as you get to know the people in a ministry group, a Sunday School class, etc.
When should I attend worship?
We are proud of the many services and worship opportunities we offer. Some options include:
Traditional worship. Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 8 and 10:50 a.m.
Contemporary worship. Sundays at 9:30 a.m.
Learn more at our worship schedule page.
What about my kids? Is there a place for them?
Of course! Kids and youth of all ages, from infant through high school, have somewhere to belong and grow in Christ at MUMC.
Infants up to two years old may be cared for at our lovely nursery center on Sunday mornings and other times in the week. Learn more.
Sunday School is available Sunday mornings for all ages, including youth and adults. Learn more.
We also have a wide variety of ministries for children, and the youth department always has something going on!
How should I dress?
You will find a wide variety of dress in any of our services – jeans to ties are equally welcome.
How do I find out what is going on at MUMC?
MUMC is a busy place! There are several sources of information where you can get details of what is happening – this website, worship bulletins,
Visitor’s Welcome Center, the Messenger newsletter, or you can call the office at 636.394.7506.
Do I need to be a member to get involved?
We welcome all who would choose to be in ministry through the many opportunities offered at MUMC. This truly is a place where you can make a difference.
What does it cost to join?
The church is not a club with dues. Membership at MUMC is about developing a deeper commitment to/with a community of faith. We expect that this process will involve a commitment to prayer, presence, gifts and service.
What do United Methodists believe?
Please view our Beliefs page or the United Methodist Church website to learn about our theology.
I have other questions. Who do I ask?
Please contact Director of Outreach Betsy Vicente, and she'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.
