This Preschool 1 class concentrates on having loads of fun. Visit any day and you might see children playing in popcorn, potato flakes, “gak”, oatmeal or birdseed at our sensory table. We love to celebrate anything and everything. Of course, each holiday, birthday and season is celebrated as only three year olds can but we also have special days like pajama day (you don’t have to get dressed to come to school), shadow day (have you ever danced behind a sheet while your friends try to guess who you are by your shadow?) or maybe the room is turned into a Pizza Parlor, a train station or we lounge on beach towels for a day at the beach. We might go on special hunts around the school such as a honey hunt on Winnie the Pooh’s birthday or a bug hunt using the special binoculars we create during class. Each week different games are out so we learn new things while we play – counting, sorting by size or color and matching. This enables us to learn that all-important preschool skill of taking turns. Every day we create special art projects, painting with anything you can imagine like feathers, kitchen gadgets, making prints with mittens on our hands, combs, fly swatters and much more. Sometimes we have a class project like the day we made a huge dinosaur together. It’s no wonder that all you’ll hear if you walk by our door is lots of laughter and giggling.
